Attending a B rated or Suspended college - don't get stuck...read on!

As a student, paying university/college fees are often difficult, even with instalment plans.

It has been noted that many B rated or Suspended colleges are taking advantage of students, particularly those students in need of CAS letters and in some appointments we have had recently, these colleges have been using scare tactics towards students pressuring them into paying off full fees.

There is no guarantee if you pay your fees in full, particularly if you have an agreement to pay in installment that your B rated or Suspended college will have their license renewed and there is no guarantee that you will be refunded as many of these colleges have clauses on their receipts or documents a fine print of 'no refund'.

Many students are currently affected by the many closures that UKBA have done due to these B rated and Suspended colleges licensed not being renewed for failure on their part for not being up to UKBA standards and requirements.

The following has happened and can happen to you if you do not take appropriate measurements to safeguard yourself.

  • College is closed by UKBA
  • Students were not informed by college management and showed up to attend class only to find their college doors locked
  • Students paid full fees up front, or were pressured into paying a huge amount within recent times
  • Student is informed that they have a certain amount of time to leave the UK
  • Student oyster cards are no longer valid
  • College management or representatives cannot be found
  • College not responding to any emails
  • Student quoted ' fees not refundable'
  • Student is unable to complete course after paying in full
  • Student has to find over £8000 to re enroll at another college
  • Student has to start their entire course from the beginning
  • Student  loses out opportunity to apply for Post Study Work Visa before it closes

'B' RATED COLLEGES - possible closures

As you all may know within the last couple weeks, the UKBA has suspended several college's license AND downgraded others to B rating, which means they are no longer a Highly Trusted Sponsor or have an A rating.

Please be advised of the following:

1.  Many of these colleges that have been downgraded to B rating have until 20th October 2011 to meet with the strict guidelines and policies given to them by UKBA.

Should these colleges not meet with UKBA approval, the colleges can lose their license and be shut down/closed permanently with immediate effect. This affects you the student.

2.  If you are currently attending a B rated college, you may lose your right to work in the UK.

3.  If your visa is up for renewal and you are at a B rated college, your visa may be held up by UKBA for months or your visa may be refused.

4.  You may be asked to leave the country or find another college that is highly trusted within a certain time frame.

To avoid any complications or uncertainty, we advise that you discuss your visa needs with our dedicated team who will advise you on the best next step.

If your visa is due to expire within September / October we advise that you set up an appointment as soon as possible:
